By using MyGamCare, a new online resource created by the charity, people can set goals, read personalised content, monitor their moods and access tools to support them.

By understanding how gambling may affect time, money, relationships and well-being, it is also intended to assist people who struggle with addiction.

The launch follows the helpline receiving the most calls for any month on record in January 2023. Around 3,700 calls and chats were initiated throughout the month, an increase of 17% over the same period the previous year.

Moreover, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp can now be used to contact GamCare.

Anna Hemmings,Table games CEO at GamCare, said: “With the introduction of MyGamCare – along with our WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger capabilities – we hope to open the door for people to get help sooner and to reach out for support in a way that works for them. It’s important that the options are there for people to start that journey in whichever way they are most comfortable.”

Zoë Osmond, GambleAware CEO, said: “We’re pleased to see the launch of the new MyGamCare service and hope it will be a vital resource for those who need it. MyGamCare provides free, digital advice and information for anyone who is worried about gambling.”

Ellis Platten, YouTuber and podcaster, added: “It’s fantastic being onboard and supporting the launch of MyGamCare, after working on previous campaigns with GamCare. Having experienced gambling-related harm myself, I understand the importance of having suitable support out there that can be accessed 24 hours a day.”
